The Samsung Galaxy I5801 is an entry-level Android smartphonerunning the Android 2.1 Eclair OS. The Galaxy3 sports a Corby inspired chassis, and has a 3.2-inch WQVGA capacitive touch screen. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm 667 MHz processor, and runs Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 UI. The TouchWiz skinning brings in several nifty features like scrollable widgets, Swype support and an app drawer. The 3 megapixel camera on the Galaxy3 I5801 offers a range of preset scene modes, and can record videos in 240 x 320 resolution at 15 fps.

Design

The Samsung I5801 sports a candybar form factor and measures 113.5 x 55 x 12.55 mm and weighs 113 g. The I5801 features a sleek, mirror finish front and black matte rear panel. Beneath the display is the triangular home button which is flanked by the touch-sensitive Menu and Back Android buttons. The top of the handset houses the dust-protected micro-USB port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the power button that also doubles as a lock switch.

Battery and Storage

The Galaxy I5801 is powered by a high capacity 1500 mAh battery, which is rated for 7 hrs of talk time and 21 days of standby on 3G networks. The phone has 130 MB of internal memory and supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.

Connectivity and Features

The Samsung Galaxy3 I5801 can connect to the web via 3G and Wi-Fi networks and is preloaded with WebKit-based browser. The I5801 supports Kinetic scrolling and smooth zooms for an enhanced web navigation experience. The 3G mobile lets you initiate Facebook/Twitter/MySpace and Gtalk/Yahoo! Messenger/MSNservices with just a single swipe. Furthermore, the Galaxy3's contact book is seamlessly integrated with your SNS, IM, email, and calendar.
