HTC's latest smartphone offering is sensational in every sense of the term and that includes its name as well. The HTC Sensation, earlier called the Pyramid, packs quite a punch with its impressive specs. Running onAndroid 2.3.3 (Gingerbread), the Sensation takes the crown of the most powerful Android device from HTC thus far.

Under the hood is the powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8660 processor, while the graphics part is taken care of by an Adreno 220 GPU. The HTC handset loads 768 MB of RAM that together with the CPU renders the phone superb multi-tasking capabilities.

The screen of the HTC Sensation sports a 4.3-inch SLCD display having resolution of 540 x 960 pixels (qHD resolution). HTC has layered the Android skin with its own Sense v3 UI that brings into the handset numerous interesting features like instant camera capture, richer Internet experience, active lockscreen and many others.

The lockscreen is packed with four app shortcuts that you can customize as per your wish and push to the activation ring. On unlocking the phone, you will be straightaway led to the app you chose to put in the activation ring. The Sense UI further brings more 3D effects in the 7 homescreens. Also the free online support on Sense gives you access to the phone remotely along with syncing and tracking.

Design

The Android device has a unibody design with aluminum finish that renders it a sleek look. The screen is protected by the presence of Gorilla Glass that contours along the edges. Present underneath the screen are four touch-sensitive buttons. The mobile phone weighs 148 g with the battery and has dimensions of 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm. The Sensation packs in the usual range of sensors including a G-sensor, Gyro sensor, Digital compass, Proximity and Ambient Light sensors.

Storage and Battery

HTC ships out the Sensation with 1 GB internal memory. Compatible with the microSD 2.0 cards, the phone's memory can be expanded up to 32 GB externally. A standard Li-Ion battery powers the smartphone with capacity of 1520 mAh. The talk time served by the battery is 8.2 hours in 2G and 6.4 hours in 3G networks.

Connectivity and Features

Internet access on the HTC Sensation is possible through GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi and 3G. Other connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 that also allows HDMI connection and a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack. You can view images and videos on the big screen wirelessly courtesy the DLNA function of the handset.

This Android smartphone seamlessly integrates to popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The Friend Stream feature of the Sense UI pulls all the latest updates from your networks to one place in your homescreen. To ease your searches, there is a quick lookup tool to directly go to Wikipedia or YouTube. The presence of the latest version of Flash gives you smooth video playback experience.

Armed with the HTC Sensation, you are unlikely to lose your way, thanks to the presence of internal GPS antenna coupled with zero wait maps. The phone is also capable of USB and Wi-Fi tethering.
