The Sony Ericsson W8 is the first ever Android based Walkman smartphone that looks very similar to the Xperia X8. Running onAndroid 2.1 (Eclair) operating system, the W8 packs in a 600 MHz processor under its hood. This full touchscreen mobile phone from Sony Ericsson has a RAM of 168 MB.

The Sony Ericsson phone sports a 3-inch TFT screen with 320 x 480 pixel resolution. The W8 uses the proprietary Timescape UI that integrates social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to your homescreen. You can customize the four corners of the homescreen as per your priority and set your music and apps at just one click away.

The W8 Walkman phone is loaded with a 3.2 megapixel camera with geo tagging capability. The device can record videos at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The handset boasts of an interactive music player with Infinite button that makes your search easier by pulling in content from music store and You Tube. The Track ID music recognition feature helps you find all the information on a song. All you have to do is record a few seconds of any song and the feature will send full information on track, artist and album to your phone in seconds.

The touchscreen handset borrows its looks from the Xperia X8. The phone, weighing 104 g and measuring 99.0 x 54.0 x 15.0 mm, fits snugly into your hands. The curved rear of the W8 gives it a stylish edge along with convenience of handling. The screen of the Walkman phone boasts of a scratch resistant surface that protects the device from falls and drops. The accelerometer present in the Sony Ericsson mobile auto rotates the UI while the proximity sensor is responsible for auto turn off and on of the device.

Storage and Battery

The Sony Ericsson W8 ships with 128 MB of internal memory. The microSD compatible phone's storage can beexpanded up to 16 GB using a memory card. The battery used in the Walkman mobile phone is a standard Li-Po 1200 mAh that serves talk time of 4 hours 45 minutes in both 2G and 3G networks.
